Day 5
I feel a disappointment in my heart as I realize that this journey is nearly over. The day is an easy row over deep pools. We have a bumpy ride over the Rocky Horror rapid where the river runs wide and shallow over small rocks. No matter what you do there is no way to avoid the rocks. As we set up camp we are enveloped for a few minutes in a sand storm followed by a flash thunderstorm. A cooling swim, fire and fluorspar fireworks, and successful fishing rounds the day off. A last quick glance at the rarely seen milky way in full glory before we're off to sleep. Day 6On our last day we have a lazy row to the pickup point where an old school bus picks us up for the long dusty drive back to the start. This is truly one of the most incredible experiences, and was long overdue for father and son. I will always cherish the memories from this trip, and hopefully would be able to make it again one day with more of the family.
