OK, so this website is old and ugly. Some of the content dates back more than 10 years. But there are enough people who find some of the content interesting, so instead of removing the site (or finding time to turn it into a blog or give it a complete overhaul), I've left a few items up such as how to make biltong, adventure stories about a canoe trip in Namibia and hiking in the Karoo. Also a few extracts from my great grandfather's diary from when he was a prisoner of war on Ceylon for historians of families who find some interest there. 

Adventure hike story: A solitary hike in the Karoo, a semi-arid desert area that is situated in South Africa. The Orange River meanders through this area. Desolate, scarred volcanic landscape and 38șC.
